Best buildings in NYC: fewest open housing violations per unit
Graded NYC rental buildings with 6 or more units, ordered by open NYC HPD housing code violations per 10 units, fewest first, as of Oct 26, 2026. First on the list: 505 West 35th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan, 0 open per 10 units (0 open, 532 units). 100 of the 100 buildings below have no open HPD violations.
The same rule as the worst buildings list, from the other end. Ties are ordered by grade score, then by size. Co-ops, condos and public housing (NYCHA) are left out. Only buildings with an HPD violation issued in the last 24 months or a 311 housing complaint in the last 12 are listed, so a building with no recent city housing record does not appear. A place here reflects city records, not an inspection.
